This was the case for a recent client in a marina development whose doors sustained damage from high winds. Entec provided a tailored solution, manufacturing and installing new aluminium swing doors with leaves designed to open in opposite directions—eliminating the risk of wind interference, whilst maintaining fire escape requirements.
Project Overview
Prezzo’s windy location on the marina caused havoc with their main entrance doors, continuously damaging the door leaves and creating a challenge for customers to open the doors. Entec designed, manufactured and installed a new entrance solution that mitigated the impact of the wind—preventing damage to the doors and ensuring customers could enter the restaurant with ease.
Challenge
The primary challenge was to create a solution that nullified the wind impact whilst ensuring the building’s fire escape requirements would be maintained (an outward opening escape option in the direction of travel).
Solution
Entec met with Prezzo on site to develop an understanding of pedestrian traffic flow, entrance requirements and minimum escape widths. The result—a bespoke, durable solution that mitigated the wind effect by having an inward opening main entrance door leaf, and maintained escape conditions, by having an outward opening secondary door leaf with a panic bar.
